mount baker roman headwall

June 20, 2005

Chirs and I zipped down to Mount Baker for a one day ski ascent of the Coleman-Demming route. It was a fantastic trip with great weather and excellent snow conditions. We had to carry skis to the end of the Heliotrope Ridge Trail, beyond which there was plenty of snow. We left Vancouver at 4 AM and left the trailhead at 6:30 AM. From there it took us 5 hours 45 minutes to reach the summit and I'm sure Chris could have knocked off at least an hour if slowpoke matt was in better shape. The Roman Headwall was in fine condition when we skied; our timing gave us creamy snow for the best part of the descent.
