850mb ETA

This site is useful for looking at where freezing levels will be at. If you click on the 850mb Temperature, RH, and Winds, ALL TIMES button, you will see a map of North America with a dark line that is labelled 0 C. That indicates that at an elevation of approx 1600m, it will be freezing. It is a quick indicator of whether the next storm is coming warm or cold. If the dark line passes through our area (Whistler), then expect it to be raining up to roughly 1600m, which means shmooey snow conditions.
