old settler approach

Julia (www.mountaingirl.net) emailed me a suggestion for a better route from the road to Daiphy Lake. (1-aug-2006)

For the first 2/3 of the forest just keep right. If it's getting steep you're probably too far left. When you get up near the top you need to traverse left, then pop out on top of the ridge onto some heather meadows. The traverse left is the only really steep part. Some friends of mine went back last weekend (one of them had been with me so she knew our route). I asked them to take some flagging tape and flag the route and they did. A bunch of us are going to go back probably in September with loppers and a chainsaw to clear it out a bit so hopefully the route will be in better shape for a little while anyway.

Drew Brayshaw responded to this route with his own suggested best route to Daiphy Lake. The following image contains Drew's route suggestion, shown in green.
